With our unique, hand-crafted recipe and process, Ascent is endeavoring to provide our listeners their very own craft radio experience, unlike anything available anywhere else. Ascent is not aiming to be a new be-all, end all in music streaming and online radio, but rather to provide our listeners with a very particular and compelling listening experience. ​

Equal Parts: Truth and Hope

We live life in the in-betweens, in the tensions. The now, and the not yet. We think our music should occupy this same liminal space, holding in one hand a commitment to truth telling, and in the other a view of the world to come, the world toward which we collectively work. Thus, music of Ascent Radio maintains this critical balance, music that tells the truth about the world as it is, and music that inspires toward the world to come.

No Algorithms.

The richest parts of life have a little bit of human touch - and we're convinced this is deeply true when it comes to our music. Algorithms by design are meant to narrow and homogenize, and therefore can make our music experience feel stale, mechanical, and repetitive. Therefore, Ascent music is fully hand-curated, thoughtfully and on purpose - free-form radio drawing upon diverse artists and genres, across many eras.  ​

Music Moves Us.

Life is movement. Life moves in, around, and through us. Our greatest songs, our greatest artists, are those who possess the gift to capture and articulate this beautiful and diverse movement in music and lyric. In this way, music possess a unique and dynamic power to move us, to inspire us, challenge us, even change us. Thus, Ascent exists to play a part in transforming lives and communities worldwide through the power of music.

Music is Communal

Music is best when shared.  Therefore, through the use of our (future) Discussion Board, social media platforms, and email interaction, Ascent will offer daily opportunities to help curate radio together, through listener input, insight, and creative inspiration. Whether discussion is centered in a daily theme, a current event or looking back at history together, our music  will be curated by and for our shared life together, our collective ascent.
