There’s occupation and war and genocide.
There’s imperialism and Colonialism. There’s poverty and injustice and Racism and Sexism and Homophobia and Violence. There’s the veneer - the Awareness that the vortex is a facade, A distraction, that the holidays have become Egregiously commercialized and Consumeristic. There are changes in beliefs, or Loss of beliefs. Or Awkwardness of uncertainty around beliefs - And the social, familial or communal Dissonance that comes with our Evolution. There’s a diversity of beliefs and traditions and holidays that are ignored and/or dismissed… a Lack of inclusivity, Tho we celebrate warmth, love, cheer, and Peace on Earth. So… let’s be honest. Let’s hold space for all of what the holidays are - or aren’t - for all of us. Our playlist this time of years sits in this liminal space… what’s real and felt, alongside what we hope and long for. We see you. We care. We want to be with you. But we get that you might just need space. The world is not as we wish. Not even close. Our hearts are heavy. But with all we have left, we are Clinging to hope. Hope for a better world. Better days. Hope for joy. Hope for peace. Hope for love. May it be so. May we make it so. Love well. Listen well. Lament well. Fight for justice well. Celebrate well. Merry everything to everyone from us here at Ascent.
